Guy’s, King’s, and St Thomas’ School of Medicine was created on August 1, 1998, by the merger of King’s College London (including the former King’s College School of Medicine and Dentistry) and the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St. Thomas’s, which had been formed in 1982 by the merger of Guy’s Hospital Medical School and St. Thomas’s Hospital Medical School. The medical school was later renamed King’s College London School of Medicine at Guy’s, King’s College, and St. Thomas’ Hospital. In 2009, Kingโs College London was granted degree-awarding powers for the medical programs. Students graduating from 2009 onwards may receive a degree from either Kingโs College London or from the University of London.
