The post-natal (postpartum) period is the “sixth vital sign” of pregnancy. It is the period beginning immediately after the delivery of the placenta and extending up to 6 weeks.
Critical Care Timing
- Immediate PNC: Within 24 hours of delivery (critical for preventing maternal hemorrhage).
- Early PNC: Between 48 and 72 hours.
- Later PNC: Between 7 and 14 days.
- Final Assessment: At 6 weeks post-delivery.
