Odds Ratio (OR) Calculation:
Interpretation: The odds of exposure in cases vs. controls. It is an estimate of the relative risk when the disease is rare.
Strengths & Limitations
- Advantages: Ideal for rare diseases, quick to perform, inexpensive, and requires a smaller sample size.
- Disadvantages: Prone to recall bias, selection bias, and cannot calculate incidence/prevalence directly.

- Matching: Process of making cases and controls similar regarding confounding factors (e.g., age, sex).
- Overmatching: If you match for a variable that is actually a key determinant of the disease, you may lose the ability to study its association.

- Estimation of Risk: Only OR is possible; RR (Relative Risk) cannot be calculated directly because the study starts with disease status, not population-at-risk.
