In August 2004, the University of Wales College of Medicine (UWCM) merged with Cardiff University. The new Wales College of Medicine, Biology, Life and Health Sciences consists of the five former schools of UWCM (Dentistry, Healthcare Studies, Medicine, Nursing & Midwifery, and Postgraduate Medical & Dental Education) and four schools from the former Cardiff University (Biosciences, Optometry & Vision Sciences, Psychology and Welsh School of Pharmacy).
