Saint Theresa’s Medical University (STMU) was a private medical school located in Saint Kitts and Nevis. The institution operated from 2005 until its closure in 2009, when accreditation was formally withdrawn by the Ministry of Education of St. Kitts-Nevis.

Admission Process

During its period of operation, Saint Theresa’s Medical University admitted students who had completed pre-medical or undergraduate-level education. Admissions typically involved:

  • Submission of academic transcripts
  • Proof of English language proficiency
  • Personal statement and references
  • Acceptance of international students

As the university is no longer operational, it does not accept new applications.

Course and Curriculum

Saint Theresa’s Medical University offered a Doctor of Medicine–style medical curriculum designed to prepare students for clinical practice.

  • Pre-Clinical Sciences: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology
  • Clinical Training: Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Psychiatry, and Community Medicine

The curriculum followed a traditional Caribbean medical education model, with an emphasis on foundational sciences and clinical exposure.

Graduates from Saint Theresa’s Medical University pursued various career paths during the period the school was accredited:

  • Medical licensure examinations, subject to country-specific regulations
  • Clinical practice opportunities in different healthcare systems
  • Careers in research, education, and public health

Following the withdrawal of accreditation in September 2009, graduates were required to meet additional regulatory and licensing requirements depending on their jurisdiction.
