Learning Objective

After completing this section, learners will be able to recognize atrial flutter on ECG, describe its characteristic features, and differentiate it from other supraventricular arrhythmias.



Atrial Flutter

  • Atrial Rate: Very fast, typically >280 beats/min
  • Conduction: Atrial conduction remains coordinated and intact
  • ECG Characteristics:
    • Saw-tooth waves (flutter waves) between QRS complexes
    • No discernible T waves
    • Rhythm typically steady
