In December 1981, Fiji School of Medicine and the University of the South Pacific signed a Memorandum of Understanding under which students of Fiji School of Medicine were awarded the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree of the University of the South Pacific. The first degrees were awarded by the University of the South Pacific in 1987. In February 2010, Fiji School of Medicine merged into the Fiji National University. The Fiji School of Medicine and the Fiji School of Nursing are now known as the College of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences.
